Swedesboro is an old borough, Kings Highway through the middle, the Swedish church, a compact centre of houses that predate anything with an engine, sitting in the middle of what has become one of the busiest freight areas in the state. Warehouses and distribution yards have gone up across the farmland around it, and the roads in and out carry tractor units, box trucks and delivery vans from before six in the morning. That mix is what we come north for: fleet glass, van windshields, and the ordinary family car that has to share the road with all of it.
Twenty minutes up Route 130 puts Swedesboro comfortably inside the van's range, and a yard full of vehicles is the best mobile job there is, everything in one place, level ground, and nobody off the road for a whole day. For a single car it is often quicker to come to us instead: shelf stock, an indoor bay and no weather to work around. We are open 7:30 to 4 on weekdays and 8 until noon on Saturday, closed Sunday. Kings Highway runs through the borough and is the local road, old and narrow with kerbside parking through the centre. North of the town, Route 322 carries freight between the Commodore Barry Bridge and the Turnpike interchange, which is why so many heavy vehicles are on it at all hours. Auburn Road runs southwest out of Swedesboro toward Pedricktown and is the quiet way down to us. Outside the borough the landscape switches abruptly to distribution parks with wide entrances, guard houses and long approach roads, and there is usually construction working on the next building along. Site entrances put mud and stone on the carriageway and lorries carry it out onto Route 130 and Route 322 for everybody else to drive through.

Construction and site traffic first, because there is always a building going up here and the vehicles serving it track stone and dried mud onto public road. Second is freight at speed on Route 322 and Route 130, where the following distances behind a tractor unit are short and the stone comes off the drive axles. Third is fleet mileage, plain and simple: a delivery van covering forty thousand miles a year collects chips five times faster than a family car, and most of them get ignored until the windshield is written off. Fourth is yard surfaces, unpaved lots and gravel aprons that flick stone at the lower edge of the glass where it cannot be repaired. Fifth is frost on vehicles parked in the open overnight in a yard.
Auburn Road southwest out of the borough is the pleasant way down: it drops you into Pedricktown, where you join Route 130 and carry on. The quicker version is Route 130 the whole way from the Route 322 end, thirteen miles with only a couple of sets of lights that hold you up. Either way you leave the highway at the Penns Grove exit, a mile short of where Route 40 comes in, and turn west into the borough; we are at 304 North Virginia Avenue. Twenty minutes in normal traffic, longer if you hit the morning freight. Coming off I-295, take Route 130 rather than running on down to the bridge plaza.

For a windshield, about an hour of fitting plus safe drive-away time before the urethane can hold the glass in a hard stop. We give you that as a specific time on the day, because it changes with the adhesive and the temperature. For a chip repair it is about half an hour and the vehicle can go straight back out. For a side window it is generally between the two, and most of the extra time is clearing fragments out of the door and the interior properly.
