Under an hour of fitting and $200 to $500 for the great majority of door and back glass. Common panes are here the same day, so a call at 7:30 usually means a sealed vehicle by the afternoon, either at the shop or on your drive in Alloway. The half-hour drive is optional — ring 215-608-1108 and we will bring the job to you if that is easier.

The urgency with a broken side window is not really about security, and it is not about the glass either. It is about water. A door is a box with a hole in the top of it and the pane is the lid. Take the lid off and every shower puts water straight down onto the wiring loom that runs to the mirror, the lock and the speaker, onto the back of the door card, and into the bottom of the door where the drains are already half blocked with cubes from the pane that broke. A fortnight of that turns a $200 to $500 glass job into a job with electrics in it.
So the order of work is: get it sealed, then get it right. Clear film taped to painted bodywork on the outside, never onto the seal, so water sheds over it rather than behind it. Then the fitting — cavity vacuumed through the access holes, drains poked clear, run channels cleaned of the grit and cubes that would otherwise be dragged up the face of the new pane every time the window travels, regulator checked and cycled, the pane seated square, and the card refitted with clips that were not snapped off getting it away from the door. That last part is the difference between a door that is quiet afterwards and one that ticks over every bump for the rest of its life.

Alloway village is the tightest place we work in this township. The older houses sit right up against the street with short drives, and on some stretches no drive at all, so a vehicle with a broken window is often standing where a van cannot pull alongside. That is workable — side glass needs far less room than a windshield and there is nothing curing — but it is worth telling us on the phone, because whether we can stand beside the vehicle or have to work from the road decides how long the job takes. Out on the lane properties the opposite is true and it is a straightforward hour. If the vehicle has stood open through rain, say so, and we will plan on pulling the card to check what got wet while we are in there.

Leave them. Loose shards standing in the frame come out cleanly when the door card is off and the cavity can be controlled; pushing them through from outside drops them straight down onto the drain slots and the regulator, which makes a longer job of the clean-out. If anything is at risk of falling into somebody's lap, tape across it on the outside rather than poking at it. Then leave the window switch alone until we get there — running the regulator with glass in the channels is what turns a glass job into a mechanism job.
For a common pane, usually the same day if you call early — we open at 7:30 and Alloway is about half an hour out, so a morning call generally means an afternoon fitting. If the glass has to be ordered in, it is normally the next morning. What speeds it up more than anything is having the year, make, model and trim ready when you ring, plus whether the pane is heated or tinted, because that is what lets us order the right part on the first call rather than the second.
Tell us the vehicle and the glass that's damaged — you'll see your price instantly, and we'll hold it for you.
