Working at a property rather than in a bay puts three things in your hands instead of ours, and they are worth knowing before you book. Access is the first: a gate that will be open, a lane a long-wheelbase van can turn around in, and a vehicle that is not parked in behind a tractor or a trailer. Ground is the second, and level and firm beats picturesque — a windshield goes in as a two-person square lift and both people need to be standing straight, so a soft lane surface after a wet March week is a genuine reason to reschedule. Time is the third, because a bonded windshield does not move again until the adhesive has had its hours.
Everything else is on us. The van carries the glass, the primer, the urethane, the mouldings and clips, the vacuum and the trim tools, plus the resin kit for anything that turns out to be repairable after all. We would far rather look at a chip on site and tell you it can be filled for $60 to $130 than replace a windshield that did not need replacing. On a farm we will happily do more than one vehicle in a visit, and that costs less of everybody's day than three separate trips out Route 49 would.

Quinton is the sort of place mobile glass was invented for. Properties sit well back off Route 49 down their own lanes, the nearest anything is a drive away, and a household that gives up a vehicle for half a day usually has to give up somebody else's morning to do it. Against that, the working conditions out here are better than in a village: room to swing a windshield, no traffic passing a foot from an open door, nobody waiting for the space. Less than people expect. If the pane is a common one and the van is not already committed, same day is often possible, particularly for a vehicle standing open to the weather. Anything that has to be ordered in is a next-morning job regardless. The bigger constraint is the light in winter — a windshield fitted late in the afternoon is curing into a cold evening, so from November on we would rather book you a morning and get it done in the warmest part of the day.
