Mobile fitting is not a lesser version of the same job. It is the same job done somewhere with no roof, which means the weather gets a bigger vote than usual. Chip repairs and tempered side and back glass are close to weatherproof: the resin and the seals do not much care where they are, as long as the glass is out of falling rain and not too hot to touch. A bonded windshield is a different animal. Urethane needs a still, dry stretch of time to reach the strength that makes the glass a structural part of the body shell again, and that stretch gets longer as the air gets colder and damper.
So when we take a mobile windshield booking we look at the actual day, and if the answer is that you will be sitting on a cure time twice as long as it needs to be, we say so and offer the bay instead. What travels in the van is the whole job — glass, primers, urethane, mouldings and clips, the vacuum, and the trim tools for pulling a door card without snapping every fastener in it. What does not travel is a controlled room.
